School Projects

This section is dedicated to significant projects I have completed during the course of my college career at Iowa State University. I have completed these projects in various sociology, political science and journalism courses. These items hold value as they have proven my research and writing skills.

Topical Feature Paper

In my feature writing course, I was able to improve my writing skills as we wrote many features. This feature relates to two of my main interests: law and agriculture. In this feature I share information on the legalization and consumption of raw milk.

Business creation project

In a visual communications design course, I was able to tap into my creative side as I developed a fake business. The logo is shown in the downloadable link. I would be happy to share the other materials upon request.

Media Law Paper

For a Media Law course I took, we were required to choose a case that related to media law and argue the case based on what the First Amendment states. This paper will examine filming police officers as it relates to the First Amendment.

Voting Behavior Paper

I wrote this paper and completed research for a Political Science course. I used my research to create said theory.

Community Capital Paper

I wrote this paper for a course titled "Rural Society in Transition." The goal of this paper was to identify the major types of Capital for the assigned city.

Policy Brief Paper

I created this policy brief research paper for a public policy Political Science course. I chose the topic of death penalty for the paper.

Policy Problem Presentation

Along with the paper above, I created a presentation to describe the death penalty and the issues associated with it.

Book Analysis Paper

In a Sociology course, I read the book, The Big House in a Small Town. Myself and another student analyzed this book through the paper we developed.

Interview Piece

This paper was developed in a journalism course where we were required to interview an individual. This essay shows my writing skills.

Industrialization of Ag Critical Essay

I wrote this paper as a part of an assignment for Transition in Agriculture, a sociology course.

Dairy Industry Paper

I wrote this essay, The Positive Impacts of the Dairy Industry during my coursework while dually enrolled at Waukon High School and Northeast Iowa Community College.
